Grand Banks Classic 42' For Sale

Kindred Spirit III
 is awaiting a new owner
Ready to Cruise!!!
$169,900

Kindred Spirit III has been loved and cared for by the same owners for the past 12 years.  During that time, she has been continuously upgraded and maintained in Bristol condition.  Her captain, a retired engineer, made it his mission to make her the best 80’s Grand Banks on the water.  Everyone who has examined her, agrees that he has achieved his goal.

Our coastal cruising trawler is furnished exactly as a serious passage maker would dream. She is equipped with:

Twin Ford-Lehman SP 135 engines known for their long term use

          Updated Twin-Disc Transmissions

          Westerbeke 8kw Genset

Updated 12 volt refrigerator/freezer systems (the most energy
            efficient available)

          Semi-displacement hull

Three updated Cruisair Reverse Cycle A/C units

Centerline aft cabin queen berth with Temper-Pedic mattress

Our fuel efficient twin diesel engine trawler has been the perfect live-aboard boat for us for the past 10 years. The engines have 8400 hours, but Ford-Lehmans never wear out. Bob Smith, the engineer who marinized these Ford of England engines, said with that number of hours, they're just "running good". We've felt safe and are confident in their reliability.

We are totally independent with ample freezer space, comfortable heating and cooling, a brand new totally enclosed fly bridge making cruising in inclimate weather very comfortable.  Our fuel tanks hold 600 gallons of diesel and we carry 265 gallons of water. The generator is up to meeting all of the onboard electrical demands when on the hook for an indefinite period of time.

The L-Shaped Galley's configuration makes it easy for the chef to prepare meals with appliances and prep area conveniently at hand with a peninsula counter and built in:

Prior to purchasing a motor coach to see areas of our country A River (does not)Run Through, and share the year of cruising on water and cruising on land, we've lived aboard Kindred Spirit III full time for almost 8 years. We began our cruising in Charleston, SC, down the Florida east coast to Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, and the Keys.  We've been to the Bahamas where we spent several months enjoying the gin-clear waters.

Our trawler has taken us up the eastern seaboard to NYC and Canada with a detour several times for lengthy stays in Washington, DC. We cruised the Hudson River, Erie Canal, Canada (falling in love with Ottawa), around the tip of FL and up the west coast of FL to Pensacola. Onward to Mobile and up the Tenn-Tom and Tom Bigbee to the TN River and Chattanooga. What a wonderful live-aboard home she has been for us. Our fuel efficient engines are perfect for long-range cruising of up to 1000 miles with a typical fuel consumption of 2.9 gallons an hour.

Being live-aboards, we never wanted to have that "live aboard" look so Bill has been meticulous about our bright work.

He's perfected his Epiphanes Varnish technique under the tutlage of one of the experts. The grain shows through beautifully without a bubble or brushmark in sight. Passers-by so often comment on how beautifully our exterior teak sets off our Grand Banks and is an eye-catcher.

Kindred Spirit's brightwork always receives accolades from other boaters.

O
Our Grand Banks Trawler is in extraordinary condition making her appear much younger than her age. She is not a project boat but one that is up-to-date and ready to be mosey the open waters by new cruising/boating owners. Kindred Spirit III is a classic beauty that was at the top of her class when built and through dedication to her long-term care, remains the same today.

A thorough inspection of our hull. No blisters ever found.

Peacefully at anchor in Paradise
